Compare · Synthflow

Synthflow ships a self-serve canvas; Countertone ships a receptionist who already knows your CRM.

Both let a small-business buyer stand up a voice agent without hiring an engineering team, but they’re not pointed at the same buyer. The rows below go per-dimension across segments, telephony, AI-disclosure posture, pricing, and integrations — so a solo operator, a clinic, or a contractor can see why the two products make sense for very different teams.

Per-dimension comparison

Five dimensions, two columns, one decision.

Each card below answers one question a small-business buyer actually asks — what Synthflow ships, what Countertone ships, and what it means for the call you’re trying not to lose.

Target SMB segments
Which small-business buyers the platform is built to serve.

Countertone

Solo operators and small professional offices — single-location dental and medical clinics, 1–30 truck HVAC and home-services contractors, four-attorney legal and accounting practices, and regional real estate teams.

Synthflow

No-code, self-serve SMB buyers — sole proprietors and small offices in dental, legal, real estate, and home services who onboard themselves through a browser without writing code or hiring an integrator.

Why it matters: No-code self-serve is a real win for a solo operator who wants to be live before lunch — and a real loss the moment a vertical workflow (after-hours on-call by zip, multi-location routing, a per-clinician intake form) shows up. Countertone ships those for your office; Synthflow ships the canvas to draw them yourself.

Telephony handling
How the platform obtains, provisions, and operates phone numbers.

Countertone

Carrier-grade numbers with STIR/SHAKEN attestation and TCR/10DLC registration managed for you. Multi-number, multi-flow routing with after-hours on-call by zip and time of day.

Synthflow

Bring-your-own number on most tiers; numbers underneath are provisioned through Twilio. STIR/SHAKEN attestation and 10DLC registration are inherited from Twilio, but the buyer owns the Twilio account, the brand registration, and the campaign vetting.

Why it matters: Bring-your-own Twilio means you own the carrier setup, the attestation brand, and the 10DLC campaign vetting. If a number gets filtered or a campaign gets queued for review, you’re the one debugging Twilio — Countertone runs the carrier side as part of onboarding.

AI disclosure posture
How the system signals to callers that they are speaking with an AI.

Countertone

Recording-consent language included on every flow; HIPAA-aware transcripts with no LLM-training posture; state-by-state AI-disclosure language on the Scale tier.

Synthflow

AI-disclosure and recording-consent lines are configurable per flow in the prompt editor and a default scaffold is supplied, but the final wording, the state-by-state language, and the consent placement are the buyer’s responsibility to set and to keep current.

Why it matters: A configurable scaffold is a start, but the legal wording is yours. State-by-state AI-disclosure and two-party consent lines still need a lawyer’s eye, and they need to be rechecked every time your flow or your footprint changes — Countertone ships reviewed language on the Scale tier.

Pricing model
How buyers are billed — per seat, per minute, per call, or flat.

Countertone

Bounded by minutes, not seats. Three published tiers: Starter ($249 / 500 min), Growth ($549 / 1,500 min), Scale (custom / 5,000+ min). No per-call surcharges on top.

Synthflow

Per-minute usage billing on top of published, tiered monthly subscriptions — Starter, Pro, and Enterprise. The plans price platform features and seats, not the minutes themselves; carrier minutes are metered and billed separately against the Twilio leg.

Why it matters: A subscription tier plus per-minute Twilio pass-through looks predictable until your call volume spikes. Countertone’s minute-bounded tiers have no per-call surcharge and no separate carrier line item, so a busy week stops producing an invoice you didn’t plan for.

Integration surface
Which calendars, CRMs, and vertical tools the agent writes into.

Countertone

Writes into ServiceTitan and Jobber for home services; Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and Open Dental for medical and dental; HubSpot and Salesforce for real estate and general SMB. CRM or scheduler on every tier.

Synthflow

Zapier, Make, and webhook connectors plus native calendar and CRM plugs for HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Calendar, Calendly, and GoHighLevel — but no first-party ServiceTitan, Jobber, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Open Dental connectors. Vertical-system writes happen through a generic connector or a custom webhook the buyer wires themselves.

Why it matters: Zapier and a webhook are enough for a Gmail-to-Calendly pipeline. They are not enough for a write into ServiceTitan after a service call, a Dentrix patient note after a missed call, or a Jobber job status after-hours. Countertone has first-party connectors for the vertical systems Synthflow leaves you to wire up.
